The University of Central Lancashire (UCLAN) has fulfil one of its memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed with Yaba College of Technology through a student/lecturer Exchange visit recently.

The Lecturer, Ann Vanner came with three students, lee Sansfield, Chris Dalton and Johnny Young from the Departments of Quantity Survey, Architectural Design and Building Technology respectively.

The Dean, School of Environmental Studies, Mr. Inyang-Udoh Uduak said the purpose of the MOU is to create career progression for graduates of the school to do a year top-up degree programmes. Others are to establish staff/student exchange programme through lectures and exchange of research ideas.

Inyang-Udoh said this is the first lecture that would be delivered by UCLAN staff however; the MOU had afforded members of staff to develop themselves through P.hD programme which about five staffs are currently running in the institution.

Vanner lectures on ‘The Role of Architectural Technologist’ and ’15 Universal Design Principles’ pooled students from the five departments in the School of Environmental Studies.

A bridge building competition was organised. This encouraged team work and gave the UCLAN and Yabatech students the opportunity to design a bridge that would span 60cm using paper and cenotap.
